PM To Hold Meeting To Review Situation Of Indians Stuck In Sudan: Sources
KHARTOUM, Sudan: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a high-level meeting to review the situation of stranded Indians in violence-hit Sudan, government sources said today.
India yesterday said the situation in Sudan was “extremely tense” and was focusing on ensuring the safety and well-being of the Indian community, including contingency plans and possible evacuation.
More than 300 people have been killed in clashes between the country’s army and paramilitary forces, ignoring pleas from world powers for a Ramadan-ending ceasefire.
Sudan’s capital Khartoum has seen fierce fighting in densely packed districts with airstrikes and tank fire, with most of its five million people holed up at home in baking heat without electricity, food or water. Communication is severely affected
