Priyanka talks about colourism in Bollywood, regrets doing fairness cream ads
In the mid-2000s, the Indian actress also revealed that she regrets being a part of ‘damaged’ skin fair advertisements.
“When I got into the movie industry, if you were fair, you were guaranteed some kind of success or acting, but if you were dark … and I’m not dark. For dark women, it’s like. Let’s light you up. I’ve been light in a lot of movies,” Dax told the podcast Armchair Expert. Priyanka was talking to Shepherd.
The star, who is married to Nick Jonas, shared that the make-up and bright lights on her were lighter than they were on screen.
He added, “We learned that it was damaging bullsh*t. I got caught up in it too, and I look back on it, and the ad was so damaging. I’m black, and this guy’s selling flowers, and he comes in. ‘Don’t even look at me.
I’m this “I start using the cream, I get a job, I get a boyfriend, all my dreams come true. It was the mid-2000s,” she said.
Priyanka is now a big star in Hollywood and lives with her husband, singer Nick Jonas and daughter Maldy Marie Jonas.
