Rajasthan BJP meets 2008 Jaipur blast victims in the wake of acquittal of all accused
Leader of Opposition in Rajasthan Assembly Rajendra Rathore met the victims of the 2008 Jaipur serial blasts at their residence on Saturday and expressed solidarity with them following the acquittal of all the accused in the case. The blasts killed 71 people and injured 185.
71 people were killed and 185 injured in these blasts. The BJP accused the Congress government of weak lobbying after the acquittal order. We met the family members of the blast victims. If the Bharatiya Janata Party comes to power we will make a special plan for them and try to rehabilitate them,” Rathore told reporters here. Asked whether the BJP would take the matter to the Supreme Court, Rathore said the party has formulated a strategy and talks are underway. “It is the duty of the state government that they should appeal. But if the victims appeal to us, we will also knock on the Supreme Court’s door and hire top lawyers,” he said. The Rajasthan High Court on March 29 acquitted four convicts sentenced to death by a special court in 2019.
The High Court also pulled up the investigative agency for botched investigation.
