New Delhi, Feb 24 (PTI) The Supreme Court on Friday refused to entertain a PIL seeking a direction to all states to frame provisions for menstrual leave for students and working women at their respective workplaces.

Observing that the matter falls under the policy domain of the government, a bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said that a representation can be made to the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development for a decision.

The petition filed by Delhi-based Shailendra Mani Tripathi has sought an order to the Center and all states to comply with Section 14 of the Maternity Welfare Act, 1961.

Section 14 of the Act provides for the appointment of Inspectors and the appropriate Government may appoint such officers and define the local limits within whose jurisdiction they shall exercise their functions under this Act. PTI SJK SJK DV DV
