Eatery owner arrested for selling illegal firearms in Delhi
The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police has arrested a 41-year-old man for allegedly supplying illegal arms to criminals in the national capital, an official said on Thursday.
Police said they recovered five country guns along with eight cartridges from the accused identified as Mohammad Sageer of Old Seelampur.
Sageer runs a restaurant (dhaba) in Delhi’s old Seelambur area.
Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Singh Yadav said that they received specific information about Sageer involvement in supplying weapons.
“A raid was conducted in Old Seelampur area and Sageer was arrested who was planning to sell illegal firearms and ammunition,” said the Special CP.
On investigation, it was revealed that he was getting illegal firearms from one Sakir Mohammed. Aamir bought the guns from Gurja in Uttar Pradesh.
“Sageer bought the illegal guns for Rs 5000 each and sold them to unknown persons for Rs 10,000. It was also revealed that Aamir was in touch with one Prem Singh of Gurja, Uttar Pradesh,” the official said.
Uttar Pradesh police have arrested Prem Singh and sealed an illegal factory near Bulandshahr where he manufactured illegal firearms.
