Gangster Atiq Ahmed Received 9 Bullets, 1 Was To Head: Sources On Autopsy
NEW DELHI: Gangster Atiq Ahmed was shot dead at least nine times on camera outside a hospital in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday night, an autopsy report has found shocking.
According to sources, at least nine bullet wounds were found on the body of the dreaded gangster during the post-mortem. Five bullets were recovered from the body of his brother Ashraf Ahmed, who was reportedly shot dead outside a hospital in Prayagraj. The police took them to the hospital for medical examination.
Atiq Ahmed was shot once in the head and 8 times in the chest and back, an autopsy revealed. The headshot was captured on live TV as the three shooters, now arrested, rained down bullets on the mobster-turned-politician and his brother, killing them on the spot.
According to sources, a post-mortem examination found five bullet wounds on Ashraf’s body — one on his face and four on his back.
The postmortem was conducted by a panel of 5 doctors. The proceedings were also videotaped to ensure a proper trial of the high-profile case.
Atiq Ahmed, a former MLA and MP, faces at least 100 criminal cases. Umesh Pal, a lawyer and witness in the 2005 killing of BSP MLA Raju Pal, was in the headlines since February when he was shot dead outside his home in Prayagraj.
Atiq Ahmed, the prime accused in the Bahujan Samaj Party MLA murder, was also made an accused in the Umesh Pal murder. As of 2019, Atiq Ahmed was in a transferred Gujarat jail after his alleged role in kidnapping a businessman. Atiq Ahmed was brought to Prayagraj for a court hearing two months ago and then taken to Gujarat, followed closely by media.
Azad, the 19-year-old son of a gangster accused in the Umesh Paul murder case, was shot dead by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force in an encounter on Thursday.
The goons have repeatedly accused the Uttar Pradesh police of planning to shoot him dead in a staged encounter. After a recent court date, he told the media, “I’m safe because of you.”
Ironically, while the gangster was talking to journalists, his killers, disguised as journalists, opened fire.
The Uttar Pradesh government has come under fire for apparent lapses in prisoner security and the way the police responded to the shooting. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered a high-level inquiry into the incident.
