Man arrested for illegal possession of explosives in Kerala’s Kasaragod
Kasaragod (Kerala), May 30 (PTI) The Kerala Police on Tuesday seized explosives including 2,800 gelatin sticks and 6,800 detonators illegally hoarded from a house in north Kerala’s Kasaragod district and arrested one person. matter.
Acting on a tip-off from the district excise department, police in Adur village arrested Mohammad Mustafa (42) from his house on Tuesday morning.
An excise team raiding the suspected robbery found explosives in his house and car and informed the local police.
“We found about 2,800 sticks of gelatin, 6,800 detonators, six rolls of wire and a dynamo. We have recovered his car and items kept inside the house,” police told PTI.
During the seizure, Mustafa tried to cut his wrists, but the police immediately intervened and took him to a nearby hospital.
A case has been registered against him under Section 5 of the Indian Explosives Act. Section 5 deals with punishment for making or possessing explosives under suspicious circumstances.
Apart from gelatin sticks and detonators, the police recovered air caps, zero caps and number caps.
The accused has said that he bought the ammunition to supply it to local quarries. However, police said he did not have a license and arrested him. PTI RRT HDA
