Oscars 2023 Nominations: RRR’s Best Original Song Is A Lock, Will It Get a Best Picture Nod?
By Tushar Joshi: The race for the 95th Oscars red carpet is almost here. While some nominations seem almost locked in (Country for Best Original Song) some categories are still controversial (Best Director and Best Actor). With the official Oscar nominations set to be announced today on January 24, IndiaToday.in has put together predictions for major category nominations at the Academy Awards on March 12 in Los Angeles.
Will RRR outperform other heavyweights and come out on top? We can find out..
Best Picture
The Banshees of Inisherin
Tár
Avatar: The Way of Water
Top Gun: Maverick
All Quiet on the Western Front
The Whale
Everything Everywhere All at Once
The Fabelmans
Elvis
The best picture category looks tied between awards season favorite Everywhere All At Ones and Academy favorite Steven Spielberg’s The Fablemen, which has won the category at most awards show events.
Best Director
Steven Spielberg (The Fablemans)
Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (EEAAO),
Martin McDonagh(The Banshees of Inisherin)
Todd Field(TÃR)
Edward Berger (All Quiet on the Western Front)
Best Director is most likely to be Spielberg for his semi-autobiographical film The Fablemans. However, Berger could be the one to pull of a surprise win with All Quiet on the Western Front.
Best Original Song
Naatu Naatu (RRR)
Lift me Up (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever)
Ciao Papa (Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio)
Hold my hand (Top Gun: Maverick)
Good Afternoon (Spirited)
RRR’s win for Naatu Naatu seems to be the most obvious win for the night. With no other song coming close to the impact of this composition, the West is totally smitten by Naatu Naatu and is likely to give the golden trophy to team SS Rajamouli on that Oscar stage.
The nominations ceremony for the 95th Oscar Awards ceremony is likely to begin at 7 pm IST and can be watched at the official YouTube channel of Oscars.
