New Delhi: A 20-year-old girl died on Sunday after her scooty was rammed by a car and dragged for a few kilometers in Delhi, an eyewitness described the horrific tragedy on Sunday.
Deepak Dahiya runs a sweet shop on Ganjawala Road in Ladpur village.
He said the accused dragged the girl’s body trapped in their vehicle for 18 to 20 kilometers, which took about one-and-a-half hours.
“It was 3:20 a.m…. I was standing outside the shop when I heard a loud noise from a vehicle about 100 meters away. Earlier I thought it was a burst tire.
I saw the body as soon as the car moved. Towed away. I immediately informed the police,” Dahiya told ANI.
He said that sometime later, around 3:30 am, the car took a U-turn and the woman’s body was trapped under the vehicle.
Dahiya said the accused took repeated U-turns on the road for about 4-5 kilometers.
“They did not stop the vehicle even though I tried to stop them several times.
They carried the girl’s body for about 20 kilometers for about an hour and a half,” he said.
Dahiya said he chased the car with his bike and contacted the police.
After about one-and-a-half hours, the body fell from the car near Jyoti village on Ganjawala Road, after which the accused fled away, he said.
“It can’t be an accident,” insisted Dahiya.
Speaking to ANI news agency, Harendra Kumar Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Delhi’s Outer Police Department, Harendra Kumar Singh said that during the incident, the girl fell off the scooter and
was dragged under the car for a long distance. Police arrested the accused based on the registered car number.
“The accused told the police that the windows of the vehicle were closed and the music was playing on a high volume, so they did not know and when they
came to know they fled from the spot,” said the DCP.
