Twitter Increases Character Limit To 4,000 For ‘Twitter Blue’ Subscribers And The Internet Is Triggered

Twitter increases the character limit for ‘Twitter Blue’ subscribers to 4,000 and the internet is fired up
Twitter has been a frenzy since coming under Elon Musk. From paid blue ticks to long-form content on the site, “micro-blogging” has thrown Twitterati into complete disarray. On Wednesday, Musk raised the character limit for a tweet to 4,000 for his Twitter Blue subscribers only. This means people can now post about 500 words worth of content at once. People on the stage were shocked to hear this news.

The previous limit for tweets was 280 characters, a modified version of the original 140-character limit. This change was brought back in 2017. After the recent change, Twitter began crashing, although there is no evidence that this change in character limit policy was the cause.

Under the new system, longer tweets will be displayed as normal, but with a “show more” button attached to those motivated to read on.

The site explained in a statement, “[Twitter Blue users] can create longer tweets in reply or quote tweets. Standard activities such as posting media, creating polls and using hashtags still apply. Everyone can read long tweets, but only blue subscribers can create them.
Twitter quickly became a war zone after the change was announced. People are very dissatisfied with this new feature. Many raised issues with the change, while others were busy trolling. Twitter user Jane Manjun Wong showed people online what the long-form tweet looked like, writing, “This tweet has 26927 characters,” and then typing periods into the rest of the tweet.

If the first line wasn’t broken, would the entire post show up on the feed? @elonmusk please add a floating “Skip to Comments” button.

A simple demonstration inspired people. One user simply replied, “Thanks, I hate it,” while another commented, “That’s exceptionally stupid for this site.”

One user suggested that Twitter add a “skip to comments” button because most people avoid reading the entire post, writing, “If the first line isn’t broken, will the entire post show up in the feed? @elonmusk please add a floating “skip to comments” button.”

First tap should show buttons and replies, then tap show more again to see the whole content. Otherwise it’s too hard to bookmark/like. Also might want to see replies without reading

Another suggestion came out, “Tap first to show buttons and answers, then tap Show More to see the full content. Otherwise bookmarking/liking is very difficult. You may want to see the answers without reading further.

Many users simply responded to the test tweet with memes.
