AMRITSAR: Hundreds of supporters of a religious preacher broke through police barricades in Amritsar, Punjab, on Thursday to protest the screening of a big-budget cinema.
Armed with swords and guns and escorting what appeared to be a small bus with loudspeakers, the armada broke through the fence outside the Ajnala police station.
Supporters of ”Waris Punjab De’ group Amritpal Singh staged a massive protest against the arrest of his close aide Lovepreet toofan.

“The FIR has been registered with political motives, if the case is not canceled within an hour, the administration will be responsible for whatever happens next.. They think we can’t do anything, hence this show of force. A must,” said Amritpal Singh.

Heavy police security has been deployed in the area and efforts are underway to control the protesters, news agency ANI reported.
