Watch: Samajwadi MLA Thrashes BJP Leader’s Husband In Police Station
Amethi: A police station in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday staged a brazen attack on the husband of a BJP leader as police struggled to control his assailants, including an MLA from the opposition Samajwadi Party.
A video recorded by a witness shows Samajwadi Party legislator Rakesh Pratap Singh assaulting Deepak Singh, husband of BJP municipal candidate Rashmi Singh, inside Gauriganj Kotwali police station in Amethi district.
The incident took place in the presence of dozens of policemen who fought to keep Rakesh Pratap Singh and his supporters away from Deepak Singh.
According to the Samajwadi Party leader, Deepak Singh came to the police station and verbally abused him while he was sitting there protesting. This made him lose patience, he said.
Rakesh Pratap Singh said that he protested because Deepak Singh and his supporters attacked some of his supporters but the police did not take any action.
In the midst of the protest, Deepak Singh, who arrived at Gauriganj Kotwali police station, was heard cursing the Samajwadi Party legislator and his supporters.
A senior police officer said the situation suddenly got out of hand and the police had little time to react when the two political opponents came face to face.
He said that now the issue has been resolved and legal action will be taken against both of them by filing a case.
