1 arrested for stealing flower pots set up for G20 event on Delhi-Gurugram expressway
A man has been arrested in connection with the theft of flower pots kept for the G20 event in New Delhi. A video of two men allegedly stealing pots went viral on social media earlier.
The incident took place in front of Ambience Mall on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway on Monday. The men in the video can be seen placing the pots into an SUV.
The complaint was filed after District Commissioner (DC) Nishant Kumar Yadav learned of a viral tweet and asked the Gurugram police to intervene and investigate the matter.
On investigation, it was revealed that the arrested person was Manmohan from Gandhi Nagar.
The police continued to interrogate Manmohan while searching for another accused in the case.
Police said a total of 10 stolen flower pots were recovered from the accused.
Police said that the car in which the pots were kept was also recovered, which had a number plate from Hisar and was registered in the name of Manmohan’s wife.
In the preliminary investigation of the case, Manmohan and his accomplices were returning from Delhi to Gurugram when they spotted the pots and stopped the car.
They then put the pots in the car and fled the scene.

In view of the G20 summit to be held from 1st to 4th March, many pots planted with colorful flowers were set up here.
In a complaint filed by GMDA’s Urban Environment Division’s Metropolitan Green Project, “Some passers-by/thieves have been observed stealing flower pots placed on the roadside. A video of stealing flower pots is also going viral on Twitter. , where the registration number of the car used in the theft is HR 20 AY 0006.”
“Therefore, considering the importance of the national level event, necessary action will be taken against those who steal flower pots and police will be deployed to protect the flower pots planted on both sides of the road so that the G-20 can be concluded smoothly,” it added.
An FIR has been registered at DLF Phase 3 Police Station under IPC Section 379 (Theft) against the unidentified accused.
“An FIR has been registered. We are trying to identify the accused and their vehicle. They will be arrested soon,” said DCP Vij.
