Kolkata, Apr 10 (PTI) The CBI has set up a Special Task Force (STF) to speed up its probe into the alleged teacher recruitment scam in West Bengal, a senior official of the probe agency said on Monday.
The team will soon come to the town and start investigating the scam, he said.
The STF will have seven senior officers – one SP, three DSPs, two inspectors and one SI from New Delhi, Visakhapatnam, Ranchi, Dhanbad, Bhopal and Bhubaneswar.
“As the teacher recruitment scam in Bengal is progressing day by day, we need more officers to deal with it. We have recently written to the Delhi headquarters and these officers will join the investigation,” a senior CBI official said.
Former minister of state Partha Chatterjee, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in July last year after probing the money trail allegedly involved in the SSC recruitment scam, is
currently lodged in the President’s Correctional Home.
Several education department officials and ruling Trinamool Congress leaders are in custody for their alleged involvement in the scam.
