3 members of Lawrence Bishnoi gang held in Rajasthan’s Sriganganagar
Jaipur, Mar 17 (PTI) Three members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang have been arrested following an encounter in Rajasthan’s Sriganganagar district, police said on Friday.
The accused, identified as Sonu, Sachin and Harish, all from Punjab, were arrested on Thursday, they said.
Police said the gang tried to extort money from businessman Harakchand Malbani.
In her complaint, Malbani said the accused were trying to extort money from her in the name of Lawrence’s brother Anmol Bishnoi.
SP (Srikanganagar) Anil Paris Deshmukh said, “Three people were arrested last night for trying to extort money from a local businessman. They have links with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team went to Punjab where the accused were residents of Fazilka district. However, the accused were later found to be in Sriganganagar, the police said in a statement.
Following the encounter in which Harish was injured, the accused were arrested in Chathuvali area.
He was admitted to a government hospital for treatment, they said.
